Peter Brown NEAC 16 September 2018 - 6 October 2018
Peter Brown is widely acclaimed as one of Britain's best plein air painters. He works solely in front of the subject, refusing to use photographic reference. His passion is in depicting the everyday: the complexities of town scenes, the movement of people, light bouncing off buildings, the general hurly-burly of life, all excite and inspire him. He is a master of chiaroscuro, light at the edge of dark places, and sometimes one wonders if a dry brush of sunlight, or even artificial light, is dragged across the surface of the painting leaving pools and sparks of light in just the right places.
Peter was born in Reading, studying art at Bath College of Higher Education and Manchester Polytechnic. He has won numerous awards, is a member of various national societies and was recently elected president of the New English Art Club.
This show is taken from Peter's travels across the world over the last two years - from Havana to Vietnam, New York and then back in the UK, with his continuing love of London and our British coastline.
