Vanessa Cooper is Hampshire born and has been painting since her early 'teens. She studied at Portsmouth University, first exhibited her work in 1987, and has built a reputation as a bold, imaginative artist with a deep love of colour.
One could almost sum up Vanessa Cooper's paintings in three words - Joie de Vivre. There is a delightful, childish naivety about her work which is immensely appealing. Perhaps this is because she paints what she loves most, family life, pets, gardens, birds, trees covered in blossom. There are deep veins of both sensuality and humour in her work which enhance it's vitality.
She works principally in oils, and also creates in a variety of other mediums, including gouache and sculpture.
Vanessa's work has featured in national publications and her images are used on greeting cards by Medici, Camden Graphics, and Woodmansterne.
Her work has been exhibited at the Royal College of Art 2010, 2011; Royal Western Academy 2009; Chelsea Art Fair 2009, 2010, 2011; Battersea Arts Fair 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and the Affordable Art Fair, Temple Meads, Bristol, 2009 amongst others.
