Over the last 20 years Dylan’s work has seen him respond to wild and formal gardens of the Southwest including Clarendon House and over the last few years the kitchen gardens at River Cottage. His recent paintings have seen hedgerows merge with wild and traditional planting.
The photographic depth of field suggests that the images are a captured moment however the paintings merge memories and are imagined. The surface is balanced with a painterly response to the landscape, an enchanting window into the lush, verdant growth of English gardens and countryside. Dylan’s paintings capture those fleeting moments of beauty when gardens are at their most delightful and sing with tranquil intensity and pops of colour.
“The pleasure of working in the studio, drawing in gardens and walking in the landscape have never been so important and so closely connected”.
Dylan Lloyd lives and works in rural Dorset. He was born in Kent and graduated with a Fine Art degree from Falmouth School of Art in the early 90s.
