One of our most exciting and expressive painters, Tress is the only artist, apart from John Piper, who is able to bring church buildings alive. He works in watercolour and mixed media on heavy paper which allows him to scratch through the surface to achieve powerful highlights.
Tress was born in London in 1955 and attended Harrow College of Art and Trent Polytechnic. He moved to Wales in 1976 and in fact is now considered a Welsh artist. He taught History of Art at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Tress has won many awards and there have been numerous solo exhibitions in London, Wales and elsewhere.
